Why made in Tokyo?
Every Yuruliku's fabric products are individually handmade in the shitamachi area of Tokyo by skilled craftsmen, including ourselves.
During the Edo period (1603-1867), skilled craftsmen gathered in "Edo (Tokyo)" from all over the country under the policy of the shogunate. As a result, the shitamachi area of Tokyo is still known today as a town of "Shoku-Nin (craftsmen)".
The two founders (Koushi & Kinue) of yuruliku are both designers and can design and actually make all of our products.
In the case of price-oriented manufacturing, it may be right to reduce material and production costs.
However, what we value in our craftsmanship is to be "teinei" in Japanese, in other words, to be careful.
We believe that only by using quality Japanese materials and crafting each product ourselves with a "teinei" attitude, we can create products that can be used for a long time. Also, because we make our products by our own hands, we are able to add detailed ingenuity to each part, which is difficult to do with factory production.
